SUCCESS! KDC’S SPRING CELEBRATION RAISES OVER $118,000
Kennedy-Donovan Center (KDC) hosted their fifth Annual Spring Celebration on April 1, 2017 and raised over $118,000, exceeding their goal by 18%. This evening set a record for the most funds raised by the agency in a single event.
Established in 1969, KDC offers an array of human services and used the Annual Spring Celebration as a platform for raising awareness to the first program KDC opened, which was the Special Education School. Charleen Ferland shared her family’s journey with KDC’s School and the important role KDC has played in providing services to her daughter for the past sixteen years. The crowd was moved to their feet by Charleen’s touching account of life with Pitt Hopkins syndrome and the incredible impact KDC as had on her family.
“KDC’s School is a place where little miracles happen every day….the kind that we tend to take for granted. This is a place where the cant’s, wont’s and never’s actually do happen, a place where any and all abilities are encouraged, fostered and worked on to expand quality of life,” said Charleen Ferland, guest speaker at KDC’s Spring Celebration.
The event was well attended by over 210 individuals and sponsored by businesses such as event sponsor Webster Bank, IneoQuest Technologies, and The TJX Companies. Auctioneer, John Terrio engaged the crowd with humor and passion as he raised over $55,000 in donations from the generous audience during the live auction and fundraising portion of the night.
The co-hosts of Spring Celebration, Anthony Karamas and Brad Pineault, KDC board members and longtime supporters of our mission, were able to tour the School and meet many of the students. They touched upon their visit during the event and moved the crowd with their experience touring the School.
The funds raised from this event are used to support Kennedy-Donovan Center’s mission to support people with developmental delays, disabilities, or family challenges to pursue their personal potential and success in the community. KDC provides a wide range of effective supports to individuals and families through prevention, advocacy, and intervention services that are person-centered, innovative and compassionate.
